BOWLING STATS

Ron Faria - 715

    February

As you read this, there will only be a few weeks left of the 2022-2023 bowling season.

Our wrap up meeting will be Thursday March 23rd at 7PM in the clubhouse. We had an interesting day on Friday January 27th.

Dean Hurd had the winning ticket for the strike challenge and for the first time in a while we had a winner as he stepped up and delivered a strike to win $ 209. Way to go Dean.

Not to be out done that day, Ron Faria decide to roll three games of 231, 226 and 258 for a grand total of 715. This is the first 700 series we have had in a  while. Needless to say he had a lot of strikes that day.  The next week guess who had the winning ticket for the strike challenge. That’s right Ron the 715 Faria. With much hooting and hollering he stepped to the line and left a solid 10 pin proving he is human and cannot strike when he needs it.

    BOWLING STATS

    January

As you can see, the bowling league now belongs to Ron Faria.  Occasionally he appears normal rolling slightly over 200. But then he wakes up and rolls 256 ,246 and 244.  Way to go Ron.  Come on down and watch him some Friday.  We have several people (unnamed ) try the strike challenge and unfortunately, none have been successful. We will keep trying to find a winner.

As of this writing we have 2 teams tied for first place WHAAT team 2 John Von Der Vellen and Vicky Durand and Ball Busters Team 9 Sally Autilio and Ed Caswell. Keep up the good work, but we are coming for you.

We are still in need of subs, so if you would like to join us come on down.

    December

The bowling league is still alive and well as you can see from the scores.  There was no team bowling the Friday after Thanksgiving. However we did have a ten pin tap tournament. If you are not sure what that is, if you leave one  ( 1) pin standing after the first ball it counts as a strike. Therefore, it makes our scores much higher and it is a lot of fun. Winners this year for the ladies were Rhonda Petrillo, Vicky Durand and Gloria StOnge. For the men it was Larry O’Brien, John Von Der Vellen and John Grab. Of course if there is a first place it stand to reason there is a last place. That honor this year was a family affair won by Susan and John Spada. Do not feel bad for them as they made more money than the rest of the bowlers.

More excitement was to come Friday December 2 with the strike challenge. Many have tried and were not successful. However Maggie Fleet stepped up to much hooting and hollering and knocked those pins silly winning a nice $224. Way to go Maggie.

    Bowling Stat

    November

Well Ian left us a god-awful mess and we will survive. Bowling resumed on Friday October 14th with a little less than a full crew. I wonder why!!!

Sense then, things have picked up pretty well as you can see from the attached sheet.  We do miss Scott Burns as this seemed to be his personal league.  However, Dean Hurd has taking over the reigns and it now seems to be his league.  Keep it up Dean.

As usual, there is no league bowling the Friday after Thanksgiving. There will be a ten pin tap that Friday and a number of bowlers signed up for it. It is great fun and you should come watch.

We are always in need of subs so please think about joining your neighbors.

    October

Well, the bowling season began on Friday September 16 with 16 teams this year. Unfortunately, with the new lanes and rusty bowlers there were no 200 games rolled.  A few turkeys showed up namely Wayne Matonak, John Von Der Vellen, Steve Rudd and John Murray. The highlight of the day was the strike challenge. Our super sub-John Dwyer stepped up and knocked those pins crazy for $20.

The following week saw no 200 games again. We did have a few turkeys Lowell Grant X2, Barb Grant (keeping it in the family), Gloria StOnge, Dean Hurd and Don Sweet.  Our own Gloria rolled 51 pins over her average.

And then came IAN. A name many of us will never forget. As we are getting back to some normal bowling resumed on Friday October 14th.
