It is with a heavy that we write this month’s message. On November 2nd we lost our good friend and secretary Gloria StOnge. She fought the good fight and was called home to our Lord and her best friend Roy. I am sure the 2 of them are making music and playing for all the angels. She will be sorely missed by all at the lanes as well as Lake Fairways.
The alleys continue to defeat us this year. In past years we have recorded multiple 200 games. This year not so many. It must be the alleys; it cannot be we are that old and bad. Therefore, we will blame the alleys.
On October 20th Julie Neth’s name was drawn for the 3rd time for the strike challenge. The first 2 she does not want to talk about. On that day she tried to turn the ticket back in, but we would not let here. The challenge is the 3rd frame of the second game. Julie is on my team and the first 2 frames were, shall we say pretty bad. As you can see from the picture she came through this time and almost fell off the alley. For her efforts she won $58 which her husband John came over to claim. He did not get it but gave her a big hug. (Pictures below)
We go many weeks with no winner of the challenge as John Von Der Vellen can attest to. He stepped up to the challenge on November 3rd and promptly did himself unproud as he left the 8 pins. Better luck next time John.
However, on November 10th that did not bother Al Goetani when he stepped up and won himself $88. Congratulations to both of you. (Pictures below)
