MEN'S CLUB

April 15,2022

Howdy from the Lake Fairways Men’s Club

We wanted to thank all the volunteers that worked throughout the Fall and Winter Season 2021-2022.

On March 20th, we enjoyed a wonderful evening of Food, Drinks, Dancing, and Raffles. Special thanks to Bob Autilio for the organizing work on getting this event put together. Thank you to the McManus team for Serving Drinks, Mission BBQ for a wonderful Dinner, and thank you to Tammy Truitt for the entertainment.

It was a joy to be able to serve Breakfast to everyone several time this winter, now we can rest for the Spring and Summer from getting up so early. We will resume again next Fall/Winter.

Special thanks to the leadership of Dick Hayes during this past year, Ron McManus for stepping in as the Vice president this past year, Bob Autilio for stepping in and doing so much in the background as the Secretary, for Jim Blanchard stepping in to be part of the Board and supporting our activities.

The Pool Side Lunches were a great success, and everyone came out to the Pool for food, and sometimes for swimming. We are happy to announce that we will continue them throughout the Spring and Summer, as always, we compliment Summer Fun and never complete with it. Days will be announced on Facebook and signs for that Sunday that it is on, subject to the weather.

For all those leaving us, we wish safe travels, see you in the Fall, be ready to participate in the Thanksgiving Dinner in November.

Thank you to the Women’s group for helping us along the way this year and working with us. Looking forward to working as a team in the future as well.

Please check out our posts on Face book and HOA website for details and events past and future.

Sincerely Dick Hayes, Ron McManus, Bob Autilio, John Donahue, and Jim Blanchard.

Welcome from the Lake Fairways Men’s Club

We are excited to say the end of February, with Nite at the Races on 20th of Feb, it was a great time for all the winners and the losers.

We also had a wonderful Breakfast on the 19th of Feb were the Men of lake Fairways were ready to serve.

The pool party on the 27Feb was packed, LF and Pine Lakes came together and was wonderful to see everyone eating and talking together at the pool.

In March, we are happy to say that president Dick Hayes is Healthy and back at the helm, Bob Autilio and Jim Blanchard really stepped up with making the improvements to the storage areas not only for the Men’s Club but the whole Storage area for all the clubs. Looking forward to getting the new look completed in the end of March and April.

Our Last big events coming March 19th for our last Pancake breakfast of the season, and then the Appreciation Dinner with Tammy Truitt to Entertain and Mission BBQ to do the Catering on the 20th of March.

It is really a joy to serve the community of residents, the fellowship of serving together and a lot of fun joking around with the guys. We truly have a great bunch of Men here at lake Fairways.

As always, look for the posts on Facebook for changes as well as the signs near the entrance and clubhouse.

Sincerely    Dick Hayes, Ron McManus, Bob Autilio, John Donahue, and Jim Blanchard.

Hello from the Men’s Group

Posted 02/17/22

As I am writing this, we have made it through the Covid season with several on the men getting through it, our president Dick Hayes had a long struggle this last month, and several other keys members as well, which forced us to cancel events. We had a great time with the Women’s Club at the Trash and Treasure, thank you to all the extra work at the end guys making the trips to donate the leftovers. But when you read this we will have had successful Breakfast and Nite at the Races, big thank to George and his team for doing everything needed. We have also had great success with the Pool Party’s on Sundays as well. I hope everyone enjoyed it.   For March we have a busy schedule as well, penciled in the Pool Party for March 13th and March 27th, Men’s Group Meeting the 3rd Tuesday on Mar 15th, the Pancake Breakfast for March 19th, and the Appreciation Dinner for all the guys that have volunteered enough on Mar 20th, your partner is invited for $10.00 and we are collecting $10.00 per member to be refunded at the event we you come. We have a fun and relaxing evening planned.   As always, look for the posts on Facebook for changes as well as the signs near the entrance and clubhouse.   Sincerely Dick Hayes, Ron McManus, Bob Autilio, John Donahue, and Jim Blanchard.

2021-2022 Calendar

John F. Kennedy’s words, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,” ring ever so true each year on Veteran’s Day.  You may not have personally been an enlistee, but we all know those who were.  Some are here with us today, but we also gather to honor those who are not.  But every single one of us at Lake Fairways resides here because of those who fought for America’s freedom.

Lake Fairways has a proud tradition of honoring veterans.  Many of us remember how Sharon Van Leuven presided over wonderfully entertaining and poignant Veterans’ Show at our clubhouse. She also displayed in the clubhouse photos and bios of vets. She was a force to be reckoned with.

After Sharon’s passing, we continued to honor our service people through the establishment of the Veteran’s Memorial in front of the clubhouse.  This was the brainchild of John and Judy Stewart.  They collaborated on the design, and John Lambert and the Men’s Club promoted the initial fundraising efforts.   In 2014, the park management strongly supported their efforts and was instrumental in thesite preparation and brick installation.  Through donations, the accumulated monies from Sharon’s efforts, and the sale of memorial bricks, we now have a heartwarming site that honors all who have served.  And any resident may still purchase a remembrance brick for any reason by contacting Judy Stewart.

Plus, through the artistic vision of Lynn Suhr and members of our quilt guild, the clubhouse lobby has in place from Veteran’s Day though the holidays a tree with handmade patriotic decorations and other mementoes.  The Veteran’s Fund paid for the tree itself, and it is yet another tribute to our American heroes.

Let the spirit and strength of our veterans guide our purpose here; let us always remember their sacrifices.  Let us live the words of John F. Kennedy.

Michelle Gregg
