Season in Florida means that we have many options of places to explore. And we hadn’t been able to do much of that in recent memory!
Craft shows, tag sales, art exhibits, concerts, plays…all meant to expand our life experiences.
And I’d like to offer yet another option: The Southwest Florida Quilters Guild’s biennial Quilt Show. The Theme is “Colors of the Sea”, a fitting name for our region.
A few of our local quilters/crafters group will be displaying some of their work. Arline Hansen and Michelle Gregg will have quilts on display.
The Guild will hang 200 quilts made since the show in 2020, and 15 vendors will be there to demonstrate and sell their products. A professional judge will award ribbons to worthy recipients.
Once held at the Lee Civic Center, the venue is now at the Fort Myers Event Center at 1900 Park Meadows Drive. This is right by the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Crystal Drive. Follow the signs, or your own GPS service.
The show takes place on Friday, February 11, from 10-5, and on Saturday, February 12, from 10-4. Parking is free and the entry donation is $8.
On display will be the Colors of the Sea Raffle Quilt, 82” x 94”, that some lucky ticket holder will go home with. The guild also will have gorgeous handmade items for sale in its Boutique, alongside a display of beautiful Silent Auction gifts.
The Guild uses all proceeds to benefit its continuing education classes and charitable services. Members make hundreds of donatable quilt items annually for Hospice, Golisano Children’s Hospital, NICU units, schools, churches, Project Linus, and veterans.
Quilting is really all about the love of a challenge and the smiles on the faces of those who receive them.
