Rains are definitely helping with greening things back up.
We will be working on keeping weed pressure down through the months we had the drought. Turf got weak on top with the irrigation issues so in those areas we are going to see weed pressure.
I will be spraying herbicide to take care of the weeds this will be an ongoing process until January when we will start to reapply pre-emergence to help reduce weed pressure. We were not able to do that this year due to lack of irrigation as these products have to be watered into the soil properly to get full effect.
We currently are in the process of hiring new employees we have one that is in the hiring process currently and I have interviews set up for next week unfortunately the majority of interviews that I did this past week did not work out but the search will continue until we find employees that are able to fit the needs of the golf course.
We should be able to open the number 12 holes on both courses within two weeks. The time that was spent having it close was very productive as to get the Turf back to quality. There are still some weeds within the turf that can be chemically treated once Turf is back established.
We will continue to close 9 holes at each golf course during the summer months for now.
I will be applying herbicide for a third time on Lake Fairway Greens to try and take out the signal grass.
We will be spot treating for nematodes at Lake Fairway‘s the week of June 14th.
All in all I feel things are steadily progressing towards the right direction. Hopefully in 2022 we can start some irrigation renovation, which will alleviate a lot of issues however will not alleviate all issues but they will be a lot more manageable.
